Fundacja ŻAK|BRANICKA

The ŻAK | BRANICKA Foundation and the ŻAK | BRANICKA Gallery have been established in cooperation between Galerie Magazin and ŻAK | GALLERY.
Registered in Poland and located in Berlin, the foundation is optimally equipped to present projects that bring together Eastern European artists with their international counterparts. As the focus of the art world continues to shift eastwards, the ŻAK | BRANICKA Foundation stands at the helm of an exciting exploration, which moves through Berlin, investigating contemporary Eastern European art. It is the foundation's aim to foster the establishment of Eastern European, particularly Polish, artists in an international art context.

The creation of ŻAK | BRANICKA Foundation, through the efforts of ŻAK | GALLERY and Galerie Magazin reflects and combines the shared interests and activities of both these establishments. They have already organized exhibitions of leading Eastern European artists, including: Pawel Ksiazek, Dominik Lejman, Robert Kusmirowski, Tomasz Kowalski, Anna Orlikowska, Jozef Robakowski, Zofia Kulik and many others. A united effort will enable the ŻAK | BRANICKA Foundation to decisively increase the visibility of Eastern European art in Europe's capital of contemporary art, Berlin.
The activities of the Berlin-based ŻAK | GALLERY and Galerie Magazin have helped the ŻAK | BRANICKA Foundation build a network liaising Eastern European artists with cultural institutions worldwide; including museums, galleries and art fairs. This has been furthered by the international reputation of Berlin. In addition, the ŻAK | BRANICKA Foundation is engaged in raising funds to provide grants and scholarships for artists, as well as organizing exchanges and art residencies. The foundation's dialogue with curators, art historians and institutions will further advanced research and stimulate intercultural exchange. To create a lasting impression in an increasingly globalised world, the ŻAK | BRANICKA Foundation deems it necessary to highlight the important role of contemporary Eastern European art through dedicated work on publications and journals.
